International Wine Competition

California's "unofficial" state wine is Zinfandel.
It's origins in California date back to the Gold Rush
of the mid 1850's. The Mother Load Gold Country is
a prime growing area for "Zin", and Amador County
is noted for some of the best vineyards in
the state for this varietal.

The grapes for our Zin were all harvested
from the Bower's vineyard in the historic hamlet
of Fiddletown. Single vineyard selection is prized
among winemakers because of the uniform
characteristics of the grapes at harvest,
offering balanced sugars.

Our winemaker, Peter Burford, has been working
with growers from this area for 10 years.
He monitors the growing season intently
and supervises the harvest closely.
