HAUT ART WINES WINS A SILVER MEDAL
Our 2005 Zinfandel was recently awarded a silver medal at the 2008 Pacific
Rim International Wine Competition held in Los Angeles. The event took place
in late April and drew thousands of entries from wineries around the world.
Relatively few awards were given to Zinfandels, and we are very proud to be among them.

GLAMOURCON – LOS ANGELES
Haut Art Wines’ Vintner Jim Hughes took his “show on the road”
to Los Angeles to meet fans of Glamour art at the 42nd Glamourcon held
at the Los Angeles Airport Hilton recently.

The crowd in attendance were fans of collectible
glamour and pinup art, vintage playmates, exotic
models and entertainers.
Jim had met Jennifer Janesko at a Glamourcon in Chicago
and being at the show in LA seemed to be a natural marketing extension.
The show visitors were all impressed with Chandra who was dressed
like our “Sweet Harvest” label and enjoyed taking pictures
both with her and of her. Many signed up for our website contact bulletins.
We were well received and met many glamour stars
and tinsel town celebrities who enjoyed samples
of HAW Cabernet and Zinfandel. Our wine labels might
be seen on “Real Housewives of Orange County” as the
film crew was taking pictures of the series stars
(former playmates) signing autographs. The stars
asked Chandra to join them on camera to explain the
wine labels.
The future's so bright we’ll have to wear shades.
JANESKO VISITS THE WINE COUNTRY
Janesko visited the real wine country last year with vineyard
and winery tours in both Napa valley
and Sonoma County. Jennifer, who is a knowledgeable
wine collector, wanted a
first hand view of the wine world where her Artist Series
wine is harvested and made.
Her Napa Valley tour included stops at Bell Wine Cellars,
Monticello Vineyards, and Staglin FamilyVineyards, all
producers of Wine Spectator rated 90 point plus wines.
There was also time for some browsing in the quaint
town of Saint Helena, before dinner at the
four star Dry Creek Kitchen in Healdsburg.

Sonoma County’s visits included
a meeting with Peter Burford,
Haut Art Wines’s consulting winemaker.
Jennifer got a first hand
explanation of wine blending
from Peter and a tour of the
massive wine storage cellar.
Other wineries stops were at Korbell Champagne cellars,
Rochioli Vineyards, Hop Kilm & Pedroncelli Wineries.
GB Vineyards owner and grapegrower George Barnwell gave
Jennifer a private tour of his Chardonnay vineyard,
before the group dined at John Ash’s world famous Vintner’s Inn.
WINEMAKER’S SUCCESS
Peter Burford, the HAW winemaker has been enjoying
much critical acclaim for his own brands this fall.
Not only did his Melanto
Terrace brand Sauvignon
Blanc receive a
rating of 91 from the
Wine Enthusiast, the wine
was also included in a
rating of the Top 100
wines of California by
the San Francisco Chronicle.
Peter is getting accustomed to this praise, having been the behind the
scenes winemaker for many award winning
wineries for the past 15 years.

HAW’S SPOKESMODEL STUDIES ABROAD
The old saying “Beauty is as Beauty does” really applies when
talking about our spokesmodel, Chandra McGinnis. As was evident
at her recent appearance at Glamourcon, she was very popular in her
brief Sweet Harvest costume. But there’s
lots more to this 21 year old beauty.
Currently a senior in the
competitive pre med program at UC Davis, Chandra is studying
in South Africa for 3 months as a part of a 16 member Biomedicine team.
While we will miss her, we wish her well.
